---------

I. D1.1 (Report on current technology)
A draft of the Month 3 Report on current technology for the appropriate review process is available at:
http://www.mi.infn.it/~prelz/grid/d1.1.pdf
http://www.mi.infn.it/~prelz/grid/d1.1.ps
The collection of the document material started well before the recommendation to use Word for EU Deliverables appeared.
Most of the contributions were in LaTeX format, so LaTeX was used for this draft.

---------

II. JDL Requirement collection.
We haven't received any comment or feedback so far from the applications WPs about the Job Description Language (JDL) prototype proposal we circulated at the February PTB, and which is still available at http://www.mi.infn.it/~prelz/grid/classad-howto.pdf
Comments and use-cases that imply special requirements on this ClassAd-based JDL are still welcome, and can be sent directly to our DATAMAT colleagues (sbeco@datamat.it, fpacini@datamat.it) who are taking care of the JDL adaptation and extension.

---------

III. Components of the PM9 deliverable (M1 and D1.3)
We reviewed the "DataGrid Month 9 deliverable" document, and found the proposed functionality to be completely consistent with the plan we presented in our last status report for the February PTB. So we don't have any further comment there.
For convenience and reference, we include here the PM9 plan:

The details of the new release of the Globus information services (a.k.a. MDS-II), which will form the backbone of the PM9 information infrastructure, require that part of the functionality of the old IS implementation (for instance the caching information index) be re-implemented as a user plug-in.
So here's a breakdown by task of the activities towards the PM9 milestone:
Task: Group (contacts):
User Interface/JDL DATAMAT (S. Beco, F. Pacini)
Resource broker development Catania (S. Cavalieri, S. Monforte)
Reliable submission services
Padova (M. Sgaravatto)
Pisa (F. Donno)
MDS-II issues (new index plugin development) Milano (F. Prelz, M. Mezzadri)
Monitoring services development CESNET (L. Matyska, M. Ruda)

---------

IV. Early integration tests.
We plan to have an internal (WP1) component integration activity in June. The requirements of this activity in terms of "testbed" availability are on the order of 3-4 installations. We are not clear about the outcome of some of the most recent discussions in this field, so we are wondering whether we can/should ask WP6 to provide us with this WP1-specific integration testbed starting June 1st.

---------

V. Grid Accounting
The issue of providing a suitable implementation of accounting services on the Grid is a WP1 responsibility. Given the lack of existing activity in the field, DataGrid should be able to give a significant contribution in the 3-year project time frame. The INFN-Torino group (C. Anglano, S. Barale, L. Gaido, A. Guarise, S. Lusso, A. Werbrouck) agreed to be responsible for the accounting activities within WP1.

---------

VI. Structure of the WP1 interaction with other WPs
At the last WP1 meeting (March 20-21) we tried to identify liaisons with the other Datagrid WPs, with the mandate to make sure that diverging choices are not taken and to make sure that the appropriate current information is available during meetings:
WP1-WP2 liaison - F. Donno (INFN Pisa)
WP1-WP3 liaison - Z. Balaton (SZTAKI)
WP1-WP4 liaison - F. Giacomini (INFN - CNAF)
WP1-WP6 liaison - A. Ghiselli (INFN - CNAF)
WP1-WP7 liaison - T. Ferrari (INFN - CNAF)
WP1-WP8 liaison - S. Resconi (INFN - Milano)
Liaison to US projects (PPDG/Griphyn): D. Colling (Imperial College)
